Shortly after midnight Sunday a vehicle being chased by police flipped on Northeast 75th Street after striking a street light pole. The driver was rushed to the hospital, officers said.

Police said the incident began with a pursuit southbound on Interstate 5 by Mountlake Terrace officers. When the vehicle they were chasing exited I-5 and continued south on Banner Way Northeast, it broadsided the guardrail at Eighth Avenue Northeast and then struck the light pole, ending upside down in the 600 block of Northeast 75th Street.

The Seattle Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the male driver to Harborview Medical Center, with serious injuries.
