The Seattle Gaels are looking for new players! Founded in 1979, the Gaels are co-ed teams that play ancient Irish sports, including Gaelic Football & Hurling.
So what are these games?
- Hurling, often called the fastest game on grass, is the national sport of Ireland. Fifteen players make a team for this stick-and-ball field sport that showcases endurance, creativity and athleticism.
- Gaelic Football is a field game and is played with a round ball, slightly smaller than a soccer ball. The sport is often described as a mixture of soccer and rugby.
The teams practice right here in the neighborhood at Magnuson Park on Tuesdays/Thursdays (Hurling) and Wednesdays/Sundays (Gaelic Football). Games are against each other, or other cities, at Magnuson Park. The season runs April through September.
Everyone is invited to join their club and players range in age from 20-years-old to 65-years-old.
