    • Special exhibit on the history of Northeast Seattle

      Did you know that Northeast Seattle was once the home of a ghost town, a lumber mill, a college (not the University of Washington!), an airport, a railroad, a mosquito fleet, a saint, a dairy farm and the city's first p-patch?

      From Feb. 1 - 28, visit the Northeast Branch to discover historic photos, maps and articles about the development of Wedgwood, View Ridge, Laurelhurst, Meadowbrook and Ravenna.

    • Food Lifeline Repackathon
      Food Lifeline, 1702 N.E. 150th St., Shoreline

      Be part of this volunteering marathon featuring non-stop music, competitive spirit, and teamwork to get thousands of pounds of food ready for hungry families. Gather friends, register online, collect pledges, and get ready to rock at the Shoreline Repack Center alongside fellow corporate and community teams! Registration costs $25 per person and includes collectible apron, refreshments, DJ entertainment, and three hours of team-building fun for a great cause. Each participant is asked to raise at least $50 for Food Lifeline prior to the event. Any pledges above $50 per participant will be matched dollar for dollar by Fred Meyer, up to $10,000. Teams are 10 people; feel free to build multiple teams and register early to get your preferred shift. Available shifts are: 8-11 a.m.; 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; 1-4 p.m.; 3:30-6:30 p.m.; and 6-9 p.m. Individuals and families are also welcome. Children must be 10 years or older, and each child must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.     • HANDS ON – Community Skills Fair
      Meadowbrook and Ravenna-Eckstein Community Centers

      Workshops will include tool sharpening, cheese making, building solar ovens, electrical repair, bread baking, fermentation, clothing repurposing, making apple butter, gluten free baking, cistern installation, plant propagation, fruit tree pruning, and more! Hands-on workshops are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., followed by a community potluck from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
    • Preview Lecture of Seattle Opera's 'Orpheus and Eurydice'

      The Seattle Public Library will host a free preview lectures of Seattle Opera's upcoming production of Gluck's "Orpheus and Eurydice," the story of the legendary Greek hero's descent into the underworld to rescue his true love. The preview will include recorded musical excerpts designed to enhance the enjoyment and appreciation of the production.
