Police would like to talk to anyone who witnessed a car-pedestrian accident this morning at the intersection of NE 45th Street and 36th Avenue NE. The accident occurred at the corner where Bob’s Bike & Board is located, about a quarter mile east of U Village.

A woman in her 40s was hit by a car at 8 a.m. after stepping off the curb into the crosswalk, Seattle police said. She was taken to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, police said. The Wedgwood View will post an update on her condition when it’s available.

The male driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

If you saw anything, you are being asked to call SPD Detective Tim Wear of the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad at (206) 684-8935.

A few more details: Police said preliminary information indicates that the vehicle was traveling eastbound on NE 45th Street in the southernmost lane of travel. The woman was standing on the southeast corner of the intersection at 36th Avenue NE. At some point, the woman stepped out into the marked crosswalk and was struck by the vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers administered CPR. Seattle Fire responded and transported her to Harborview as officers began their investigation.
