Power restored to Wedgwood, Ravenna

Posted by Mike on April 12th, 2011

Power has been restored this afternoon to about 3,600 homes in Wedgwood and Ravenna after a mishap between a tree limb and an electric line.

From Seattle City Light:

The outage started about 1 p.m. when a private tree company cut down part of a Douglas fir near NE 40th Avenue and NE 92nd Street. The falling wood hit power lines, causing a short, before coming off the lines and falling to the ground.

The general boundaries of the outage were NE 106th Street on the north, NE 75th Street on the south, 8th Avenue NE on the west and Lake Washington on the east.

Power was out in south Meadowbrook too. Thanks for filling us in on what was up!

You know, this is ridiculous. If you hire arborists, they shouldn’t be causing something like this, on this scale.

I’d appreciate knowing the company, so I can make sure they don’t get hired any time soon in our area again.

Accidents happen, but we pay a lot for these people to avoid them.

Oh, and a full hour? I called the power company twice, and they managed to admit they didn’t know what was going on both times. Did these people pick up the phone and admit they knocked out a power line? Or did they first call their lawyers/insurance company? God forbid your accident cause others any grief.

THOUSANDS. Over and hour. Some of us earn a living working from home, jackasses.
