Wedgwood woman bitten by car prowler

Posted by Mike on June 24th, 2012

Police say a woman was bitten when she accosted a woman breaking into her car this morning.

Around 8:15 this morning, the victim spotted a female car prowler breaking into her vehicle near 31st Avenue Northeast and Northeast 85th street. The victim grabbed the suspect—in an apparent attempt to detain her until police arrived—and ended up in a struggle with the prowler. During the fight, the suspect bit the victim.

As that was happening a man – apparently the prowler’s accomplice – walked up, told the victim he had a weapon and ordered her to let go of his partner. Both fled, police say.

Officers were able to track down the male suspect—who was carrying a switchblade—but are still looking for the female prowler.

Following the incident, officers recovered items stolen in at least one other car prowl in the area.
